Born in the Bronx by Johan Kugelberg and Joe Conzo
Through years of research, writer and curator Johan Kugelberg has pulled together the scattered remains of the first years of Hip Hop. Born in the Bronx: A Visual History of the Early Days of Hip Hop (Rizzoli, 2007) includes the improvisational artwork of previously unpublished street flyers of the era, Polaroids buried for decades in basements across the Bronx, and testimonials from influential figures such as Tony Tone, LA Sunshine, and Charlie Chase. Through the work of pioneering hip-hop photographer Joe Conzo—the man The New York Times calls “the chronicler who took hip hop’s baby pictures”—Born in the Bronx presents a unique introduction to an explosive and experimental period in music history. The book features interviews conducted and edited by Miss Rosen for the essays by Afrika Bambaataa and Joe Conzo included in the book.

Harlem Street Portraits by Harvey Stein
Harlem Street Portraits by Harvey Stein (Schiffer Publishing, 2013) documents the humanity and spirit of the people of Harlem in 164 beautiful black and white photographs taken over 22 years, from 1990 to 2012. The images are mostly close-up portraits that reveal the friendliness and warmth of the city’s inhabitants, the vibrant and bustling vitality of the area, and the changing nature of the neighborhood. What may at first appear to be a casual encounter becomes a personal, intimate record, a meaningful collaboration between photographer and subject. The book includes an afterword by Miss Rosen.

Rebel Culture: Photographs 1982-1992 by Janette Beckman
In 1982, Janette Beckman moved from her native London to New York City to photograph the Hip Hop scene as it made its way from the Bronx to the global stage.  For the next decade, her photographs graced record covers and magazines, creating an indelible archive of iconic imagery that has become synonymous with Hip Hop’s golden era. In conjunction with “Hip Hop Revolution: Photographs by Janette Beckman, Joe Conzo, and Martha Cooper” at the Museum of the City of New York from April 1–September 13, 2015, Beckman has released Rebel Culture: Photographs 1982-1992, a limited edition of 250 signed and numbered artist books, art directed by Cey Adams.

The Worst of While You Were Sleeping Magazine by Roger Gastman
This is a 496-page compilation of The Worst of While You Were Sleeping magazine (Schiffer Publishing, 2012). With over 900 images of the graffiti crazed, boozed-up partiers, and scantily clad ladies that were WYWS, this magazine content pushed the envelop of morality, sanity, and maturity. While You Were Sleeping was a graffiti and pop culture magazine started by graffiti supply business owner Roger Gastman when he was 19. Here are some of the greatest stories the magazine ever published-and many that are not so good. From stories on admirable serial killers and interviews with child stars to photos of graffiti and people s naked sisters, this book takes you into the dirty minds of Gastman and his team of juvenile delinquents. Trolleyology: The First Ten Years of Trolley Books
Since they were founded in 2001, Trolley Books has been highly regarded as a maverick independent publisher of photography, reportage, contemporary art and recently, literature. Trolley’s founder Gigi Giannuzzi is a well-known figure in the publishing and photographic industries for his original and dynamic approach to photobook publishing as well as his unrelenting support of photographers and important but underexposed stories. In a shock to the photography and publishing worlds he was diagnosed with cancer and passed away on Christmas Eve 2012. Shortly before he died work began on a new book Trolleyology (Trolley Books, 2012),a look at the story behind Gigi and Trolley, which marks the company’s first decade in publishing. The book includes a text by Miss Rosen.

The Canary Paradise by Pedro Paricio
Supporting himself as an artist by taking a range of jobs, including art editing, curating, assisting photographers, clowning at children’s parties and game-keeping, Pedro Paricio started work in 2006 on a series of paintings titled ‘The Canary Paradise,” which have been collected here in the first catalogue of the artist’s work (Ikara Editions, 2008). Three Photographers from the Bronx (Bronx Museum of the Arts, 2015) is a limited edition of 500 copies. showcasing the work of Jules Aarons, Morton Broffman, and Joe Conzo—three Bronx-born photographers who captured significant moments of societal and urban change in the borough and across the country during the 20th century. The book includes an essay by Miss Rosen.

Grit and Glamour: The Street Style, High Fashion, and Legendary Music of the 1970s by Allan Tannenbaum
Grit and Glamour (Insight Editions, 2016) features an incredible range of photography by famed artist Allan Tannenbaum covering the styles and fashions of the iconic decade, including stars and artists such as the Rolling Stones, John Lennon, and Andy Warhol during the decadent decade of the 1970s.  Tannenbaum provides an insider’s look at the wild fashions, flamboyant clothes and accessories of the 70s. Mommie: Three Generation of Women by Arlene Gottfried (powerHouse Books, 2015) is a portrait of the artist’s family, through love, life, and death. Pictured within, we are introduced to Gottfried’s 100 year old immigrant grandmother, fragile mother, and reluctant sister over the breathtaking course of 35 years. An artist turning their eye on their own immediate family is a well explored theme, but Gottfried has achieved the sublime with a multi-decade long commitment to document the intimate lives of her nearest kin.
